Skin pigmentation is irregular skin coloring which can be caused by changes in the skin melanin, vascular changes, or growth of foreign organisms on the skin. Hyper pigmentation can result when too much melanin is produced. There are several remedies for pigmentation of skin. There are many people who suffer from varieties of skin pigments like dark pigmentation, white pigmentation, acne pigmentation etc. Cause of pigmentation may vary in each individual like sun damage, genetic predisposition, injury, irradiation or hormonal changes. What is Q-Switching?

Q-Switching creates a pulsed laser beam of higher peak power. By using a pulsed laser, the higher energy of the laser creates a "photo-mechanical" effect on skin pigmentation as well as tattoo inks and pigments. The small particles comprising the tattoo or skin lesion is safely broken by the pulsed laser.
Our body's immune system then disposes of these small particles. It has two wavelengths in one laser, these are: 532nm and 1064nm Nd:YAG. These wavelengths add flexibility to the treatment options for tattoo as well as for the skin blemishes and lesions that the Q-Switch Laser has been engineered to remove.

How is the Pulse created?

The Nd Yag Q-Switch Laser used by our Clinic forms a pulse by Q-switching, which is otherwise known as giant pulse formation. Q-switching causes more controllable pulse repetition rates, with higher pulse energies, and longer pulse durations that results in a more controlled and effective laser for removal of tattoos and treatment of skin lesions and blemishes.

Depigmentation Treatment

This involves a deeper chemical peel, which is used to tackle severe, deep and stubborn pigmentation. This Depigmentation treatment is based on the inhibition of tyrosinase, a basic enzyme in the melanin formation process. Several of the substances present in this act by blocking this enzyme. Its principal action is the elimination of melanin patches on the face (melasma and chloasma).Without tyrosinase, the melanin molecules that discolor the skin are broken up before they can even form. This treatment administered in two phases of which the first involves the application of a facial mask by an aesthetic specialist (Cosmelan 1). The mask gently peels away the top layer of pigmented skin and is simply washed off after approximately 8 - 12 hours. Some clients notice an immediate improvement in skin clarity as soon as the mask is removed. During the second phase the client continues with the maintenance treatment at home (Cosmelan 2) according to the instructions of the Dr Jyoti.
